—Nominations for Inaugural Cannabis Doing Good Awards Now Open—
DENVER (September 4, 2019) ─ Cannabis companies that are doing the most good for their communities and for the planet will be honored at A Gala to benefit Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM) on Thursday, Oct. 17. Winners of the Cannabis Doing Good Awards will be announced at the event. Nominations are open now through Friday, Sept. 20. The fete is hosted by Cannabis Doing Good, Mason Jar Event Group and Irie Weddings & Events.
“We want to inspire, create and acknowledge cannabis companies that are doing good,” said Courtney Mathis, CEO of Cannabis Doing Good. “Our gala to benefit Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains is a great way to celebrate this community partnership, raise funds and celebrate companies that are purposeful in the cannabis space. We want to make doing the right thing the easy thing, and have a good time doing it.”
“We are incredibly grateful to be a part of this meaningful event,” said Whitney Phillips, Vice President of Communications and Brand Experience for PPRM. “At Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, our doors are open every single day because of the support and dedication of our community, and we’re humbled to see these companies coming together to lift up our work.”
At the Awards Gala, companies will be recognized in three categories including Change Maker: Making meaningful efforts to champion or include justice and equity initiatives either within the industry or within their business operations; Good Neighbor: Making an outstanding contribution in community engagement and outreach; and Love Your Planet: Measurably implementing sustainability practices within their business operations or facility. Industries can include, but are not limited to medical, recreational, products/brands, hemp, cultivation, legal, marketing, public relations, media, compliance and packaging.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this event, it’s very encouraging to see cannabis companies across the world support this positive wave of change in the industry,” said Travis Howard, Founder of Shift. “Planned Parenthood is an integral part of our communities and having provided services to members of my family and friends over the years, it’s an organization we at Shift believe in and want to support in any way we can.”
“It’s my responsibility to do this,” said Julie Berliner, Founder & CEO of Sweet Grass Kitchen, on her support of PPRM. “I have the platform and I want to make a difference. This is my way of using business to affect positive change. Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains provides freedom through their education and health programs. Cannabis products and the industry that creates them also offers personal freedom.” Sweet Grass Kitchen created Double Chocolate 20:1 CBD:THC, with a portion of all sales goes directly to supporting PPRM.
Awards will be judged by an independent panel, composed of two external experts, using a researched, credible rubric. Each judge will score each nomination form, and an aggregate of that score will be used as the final determinant. The CDG Leadership Team will review all judges’ scores. Panel judges may include representatives from the retail, B-to-B, non-profit sectors, product manufacturers, third-party certifiers, academia and other stakeholders in the space.
