A2LA Accredits Stillwater Laboratories Inc. to ISO/IEC 17025

July 19, 2019, Frederick, MD – A2LA is pleased to announce the accreditation of Stillwater Laboratories, Inc. to ISO/IEC 17025 for cannabis testing. Stillwater is based in Olney, Montana and is the first cannabis testing laboratory accredited by A2LA in the state.  Stillwater is also the first laboratory to go through a dual assessment where both ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and Americans for Safe Access (ASA) Patient Focused Certification were obtained.  A2LA has had an exclusive relationship with ASA to assess to their program requirements, which have been adopted from the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), and add them to a laboratory’s scope of accreditation.  The ability to have one assessment provide a laboratory with both an accreditation from A2LA and a certification from ASA was put into place in the fall of 2018.

“Stillwater Labs is honored to achieve ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation” said Dr. Ron Brost, Laboratory Director. “Quality methods are the cornerstone of our operations, and accreditation through the A2LA has been a valuable developmental process. We used the opportunity to refine, clarify, and tune our systems in order to bring world-class analytics to our clients in Montana. We look forward to continuing to drive advanced technologies coupled with excellent customer service through ISO/IEC 17025 best practices”.

“A2LA is excited to see the continued growth of our cannabis program into another state.  This addition further promotes the value that accreditation adds in ensuring quality products in this emerging industry,” noted A2LA Life Sciences Accreditation Manager, Chris Gunning.  “We congratulate Stillwater Laboratories on achieving this accreditation to better serve the needs of consumers in the state of Montana and we are proud to continue to work with them to serve their accreditation needs.”

Achieving ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation by A2LA is the pinnacle in third-party laboratory accreditation, as it confirms that laboratories have management, quality, and technical systems in place to ensure accurate and reliable analyses, as well as proper administrative processes to ensure that all aspects related to the sample, the analysis, and the reporting are standardized, measured, and monitored.
