Vitalis Extraction Technology Granted Patent for Design of its Flow Control Valve

Flow Control Valve allows for precise control of the flow of CO2 at all pressure ranges

Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada – December 10, 2018 – Vitalis Extraction Technology, the leader in industrial-scale supercritical CO2 extraction equipment manufacturer serving the international cannabis industry, was just granted its first patent. The patent, number US10,143,937, protects the design of its cyclone separator and superfluid extraction system with a novel needle flow control valve. The novel needle valve allows the operator of the superfluid extraction system to manage the flow of CO2 running from the extraction vessel into the separator assembly and achieve process optimization for the best ratio of yield, quality, the quantity of solvent, and extraction time.

The new technology represents a significant improvement from a simple needle-valve design. The novel Vitalis Flow Control Valve allows the equipment operator to have a more delicate control over the flow of CO2 at all pressure ranges, compared to on/off or pressure control valves. It also offers the operator quick access to clean the valve if required. The patent was granted on the heels of Vitalis earning its American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) certification of its fabrication facility in October. Vitalis Extraction Technology is one of Canada’s first and only ASME BPV certified extraction original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in the cannabis space.

James Seabrook, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of Vitalis, said, “This patent exemplifies our dedication to ongoing innovation and producing equipment that exceeds the accepted standards and raises industry expectations when it comes to CO2 extraction technology. It underscores our commitment to providing our customers with the highest level of quality and workmanship. We look forward to continuing to our culture of innovation.”

By combining outstanding engineering design with knowledge and experience honed in pressure component manufacturing, Vitalis’ scalable systems feature best in class flow rates, innovative separation technology, and efficient recovery solvent system. All of these principles are applied to their standard product ranges which vary from 40kg of biomass processing to their larger and custom systems capable of over 1,000 kg daily.
