DO FLORA TERPENES BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN ART AND SCIENCE?

Cannabis classes are coming to The Institute for Art & Olfaction this summer.

LOS ANGELES, CA—Terpene Experts founder Oren Cohen will be teaching the first workshop dedicated to terpenes at The Institute for Art & Olfaction (IAO) in Los Angeles this summer. Introduction to Terpenes is a primer workshop exploring the origins, profiles and uses of common cannabis terpenes. The goal is to introduce students to the mechanics of aroma development in the cannabis space. The course will be a four part series, held on June 14, June 21, June 28 and July 5, 2018.

“Flavor and fragrance creators in other fields are experienced in nuance and scent formulation but may not know much about terpenes and how they’re used in cannabis. Meanwhile, cannabis professionals and enthusiasts may know about terpenes but little about the art of olfaction. Education and exploration can bridge these worlds, which is vital as the cannabis industry expands.”

“I’m excited about exploring the connections between scent and cannabis,” said IAO Founder and Executive Director Saskia Wilson-Brown. “I see a connection with the artisan and perfume world.”

“Terpenes are crucial to the medicinal uses of cannabis, but they also provide aroma and flavor,” said Cohen. “That makes how they’re used and blended an art as well, not just a science. Ideally, I’d like to add onto this intro course with workshops that go over strain replication and development. This is just the beginning.”

“Oren is a professional with years of experience in the cannabis industry, and [he is] extremely knowledgeable about scent. We share the same commitment to open education and exploring the facts and science behind the hype. The IAO is thrilled to
welcome him into our family,” said Wilson-Brown. Introduction to Terpenes is now open for enrollment. The cost is $250.
