Full Spectrum CBD

Full Spectrum CBD refers to a CBD product that contains a wide range of cannabinoids, including CBD, THC (in trace amounts within legal 0.3% limit), and other beneficial compounds like terpenes and flavonoids.

Full spectrum CBD

Cannabidiol (CBD), together with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is one of the most well known active ingredients of cannabis. Unlike THC, CBD does not have psychotropic effects, which is why more and more countries around the world are easing restrictions regarding the distribution and production of the cannabis plant with low THC content.

What makes CBD interesting, in addition to the absence of the psychotropic effect, is its ability to interact with our endocannabinoid system, performing a therapeutic function for multiple needs. Its therapeutic and calming properties are increasingly used in medicine, including for the treatment of pain in terminally ill patients, for example. CBD can be easily delivered in oil preparations and can potentially exert beneficial therapeutic effects. Different types of CBD oils exist, each with their own characteristics.

There is isolated CBD oil: that is made with CBD crystals dissolved in natural oil such as hemp seed oil or coconut oil. The isolate  in its purest form, without other cannabinoids or other substances.

Then there is the broad spectrum CBD oil, which would be the oil containing CBD together with all the cannabinoids naturally present in the plant except for THC. In the mixture are also present other plant nutrients such as proteins, minerals, vitamins, fiber, terpenes, and fats.

Finally, there is full spectrum CBD oil, which also contains all the nutrients and cannabinoids naturally present in the cannabis plant plus an amount of THC.

The main characteristic that differentiates a full and broad spectrum from isolated oil is its effectiveness. The combination of all the other active ingredients together with CBD creates the so-called entourage effect which amplifies the effects of the oil and increases the effectiveness of its use. Instead, the difference between broad and full spectrum is only in the presence of THC, in full spectrum, in fact, there is also a low percentage of psychotropic active ingredient, which further increases its potency compared to broad spectrum and isolated oil.

CBD oil Effects

CBD oil, whether broad or full spectrum, has many beneficial characteristics for health and excellent properties for alleviating some symptoms, even serious ones, including:

  • Anti-seizure;
  • Muscle spasm;
  • Relief antianxiety;
  • Pain relief;
  • Treatment for psychotic disorders;
  • Antioxidant;
  • Anti-inflammatory.

Composition

Let’s see in detail what the plant components are that make full-spectrum CBD a concentrate with therapeutic properties.

The full spectrum contains:

  1. Cannabinoids — obviously, the main cannabinoid is CBD, which, as we know, has no psychotropic effects. Along with CBD, there are other cannabinoids such as cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN), and cannabichromene (CBC). In hemp plants there are also very small traces of THC, which normally has psychotropic effects, but being present in percentages between 0.2% and 0.6% is not sufficient to produce effects;
  2. Terpenes and flavonoids — very useful from many points of view for the correct functioning of our organism;
  3. Vitamins — mainly vitamins A, C, E, and B complex vitamins, such as riboflavin, thiamine and niacin, as well as beta-carotene;
  4. Minerals — including zinc, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, and iron, are extremely useful for healthy bones, hair, skin, and many bodily functions;
  5. Fatty acids — including Omega 3 and Omega 6, are precious for cardiovascular functioning.

Differences between full spectrum and broad spectrum

As we said, all the natural cannabinoids of cannabis are present in full-spectrum CBD oil, plus THC. Usually, the percentage is not high enough to guarantee perceivable effects on a psychoactive level. So what is the actual difference between these products?

In the full-spectrum version, the “entourage effect” is even more accentuated than the broad counterpart, the THC, even if in minimal quantities, further helps the work of the other cannabinoids, so this oil will be even more effective against pain, anxiety, and inflammation.

The main advantage of full spectrum is precisely in the collective work of all the substances present in the extract, CBD, together with THC, amplifies its beneficial effects without triggering psychoactive effects, indeed, it seems that CBD cancels the psychotropic effects of even that minimal part of THC. In short, the difference between full and broad spectrum lies entirely in the interaction of CBD with THC and in the greater effectiveness of the beneficial effects.

How do you find out which type of CBD oil is best for you? Both broad and full spectrum concentrates are capable of producing the “entourage effect”, the only difference lies in the presence of THC. If you don’t want to run even the slightest risk of incurring altered psychoactive effects, then we recommend the use of broad spectrum CBD, but remember that THC helps to amplify the beneficial effects of this extract.
