Peanut Butter and Jelly (Hash)

The tasty treat you can’t resist

Medical cannabis patients are constantly on the lookout for the most effective, efficient, and least expensive way for them to ingest the compounds they require, at the quantities in which they require them. To accomplish this, many are turning to a product aptly named jelly hash. It is a potent mixture of bubble hash and hash oil.Because a user is consuming two distinct types of cannabis extracts, the effects of jelly hash are especially powerful. It’s well known among medicinal cannabis circles as the product of choice for treating the most severe types of conditions, including symptom relief from chemotherapy, sufferers of chronic pain, gastrointestinal irritations and nausea, and more.

Bubble hash is a solventless extract which saw its heyday of popularity before the advent of a legal recreational market. This method takes advantage of the vast hydrophobicity of cannabinoids and terpenes, which are generally immiscible in water. The below-freezing temperatures further lower the solubility of our desired products simply due to thermodynamic concerns. Using mechanical agitation, the trichomes are removed from cannabis plants intact and, following a drying step to prevent microbial growth, the loose trichomes are compressed into a brick, ball, etc. Hash oil, also known as butane hash oil (BHO), is made by more industrial extraction processes of solvent dissolution, separation, and vacuum-oven drying.

These toffy-looking cannabis medications are made by mixing the individual products under heat until relative homogeneity has been achieved, with a recommended ratio of roughly eight parts bubble hash to one part BHO. The reason why this product is called ‘jelly’ hash is because of its uneven jelly-like texture. The BHO oil cannot fully solvate the dried-up trichomes. In addition, water is sometimes added during the creation process to enhance these visual effects. Because of that, jelly hash can have the appearance of a seed-filled jelly. And like the purest most authentic jams out there, jelly hash is delectable beyond belief.
