New technology will significantly expand GenCanna’s daily production capacity;
Technology will also deliver cannabinoid isolation at 99% purity at scale
WINCHESTER, KY— GenCanna Global USA, Inc. (“GenCanna” or “The Company”) and Thar Process (“Thar”) jointly announced today that they will be bringing novel supercritical CO2 technology to market by the end of the year.
GenCanna is a vertically-integrated, agriculture-technology company specializing in the production of hemp rich in CBD. The Kentucky-based company is a pioneer in the hemp CBD industry having developed key innovations throughout the supply chain as well as leading the industry’s regulatory environment. With this latest partnership, GenCanna reaffirms its position as an industry leader.
The supercritical machines will allow for greater specialization and unparalleled scale of GenCanna’s extraction and refinement capabilities. “In partnership with Thar Process, we can separate and select the biological constituents of our plants with tremendous efficiency,” commented MattyMangone-Miranda, GenCanna’s Chief Executive Officer. “We will be able to extract and isolate cannabinoids to 99% purity at true scale. Phase one of our partnership with Thar Process will increase our daily processing capacity to 10 tonnes of biomass per day.”
The GMP-compliant technology will expand the reach of the GenCanna Production Platform™ to industry operators worldwide. “The new supercritical CO2 machines will have the largest capacity of any supercritical machines built in North America in the last twenty years,” said Todd Palcic, President of Thar Process. “Together, the new machines will process many tonnes of biomass per day. GenCanna will be the technology leader in the hemp CBD industry with GMP-compliant machines. Additionally, we are collaborating to future-proof GenCanna by providing them with our new Winterflow™ in-line winterization technology, as well as a new CO2 distillation method. This will allow GenCanna to soon bypass distillation and deliver a start- to-finish CO2 technology solution.”
GenCanna has committed $15 million to close on the purchase of the supercritical technology. The supercritical machines will be deployed throughout facilities in Kentucky. “This technology collaboration is the beginning of a long-term relationship with Thar Process that will eventually encompass our global footprint,” added Mr. Mangone-Miranda. “We are excited to be up and running this year with the first Thar SFE machines, and with SFC purification technology to quickly follow. Thar is more than a preferred vendor; they are truly a preferred partner. Together, we will accomplish a great deal in fulfilling our mission to bring quality, safe, effective solutions at true scale to the industry.”
